Coaching Philosophy
RCTA believe coaching is about teaching, training, instructing and helping people to learn skills, improve performance and ultimately reach their potential. They adapt their coaching style to suit the individual needs and wants of each player. Their belief extends further to gaining life experiences, recognising and understanding the individual needs of people on a social and emotional level, as well as instilling tennis etiquette and values such as respect, trust, honesty and to always encourage others.
RCTA love going to support their students and watch them play competition. It not only gives them a better understanding of what their students need to work on in a game, but it also shows their commitment to their students and how much they really care and they really do care.
Program Goals
Tennis is a great sport for all, it is not only a good way to improve your fitness whilst learning the skills of the game, but it is also a nice environment to socialise in and meet new people.
The primary focus of the RCTA Tennis Coaching Program is getting their students outdoors and active, making sure they enjoy their time on the tennis court in a happy and safe surrounding.
Skill development and improvement are also goals of the RCTA Tennis Coaching Program. They strive to maximise an individual's playing ability and aim to ensure they have a sound understanding of the game, getting them to a level where they feel comfortable.
Catering for all ages and all abilities RCTA offer an extensive coaching program for beginners to advance players and social to competitive players in a friendly environment.
Retention is key for RCTA, they pride themselves on how they can maintain numbers in their program. This comes from the confidence they have in the programs they run, their coaching style and from their work ethic.
RCTA believe through their sound Tennis Coaching Program they can achieve all their goals and create a pathway for all their students.
Coaching Pathway
RCTA's coaching pathway highlights what stages their students are at and where they can go. RCTA realise the importance of understanding the individual needs and wants of each student. They encourage all students to progress through their pathway, but at the same time recognise competition or tournaments for example may not be everyone's end goal and that's ok. Alternatively, RCTA find other ways to keep participants involved in their program and at the club, whether it is staying in the coaching program, participating in cardio tennis for fitness, becoming a social member or assisting in coaching or volunteering at club events. There is always something for everyone!
Inclusion and Diversity
Diversity is a Strength AND Inclusion is a Human Right!
RCTA create an environment where ALL players are welcome, respected and feel safe. They have all the qualities and skills of an inclusive coach - patience, respect, adaptability, organisation, safe practices and knowledge. They understand the people they are coaching and their goals and dreams.
RCTA are inclusive, helpful, kind and encouraging towards all their students they coach, so everyone has the opportunity to get involved in tennis in a way that is meaningful to them.
Where possible students are integrated into existing lessons.
Safeguarding Children
RCTA has a zero tolerance approach to any form of child abuse and is committed to ensuring the sport of tennis is a safe and friendly environment for children and young people. It is imperative that children and young people who access their activities, programs, events or services feel safe and supported.
They ensure that child safety is embedded in their organisation’s culture, reflected in their policies and procedures, and understood and practiced at all levels of the sport. They commit to making sure that everyone involved with delivering tennis including coaches, club administrators, volunteers, parents and participants, understand the important responsibilities they have in relation to child safety.
Their commitment extends beyond creating an environment that minimises risk or danger. They are committed to building an environment that is both child-safe and child-friendly.
Together they can provide an environment in which children feel respected, valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.
